Summary of the packs provided by the hair and beauty students.
The client has suggested, using designs and drawings, that they want quite a feminine flowery style label for their shampoo. Their idea is called ‘Au Naturale’ and for their bottle, they want flowers and a couple of bee’s and butterflies. The bottle will have the brand name right in the centre of the ‘egg-shaped bottle’ and it will be written in the middle of a wave style box for the text. Then around the text box, their idea is to have blue butterflies, pastel pink flowers and moss for the text box. They also want the tag line ‘naturally beautiful’ for the bottom of their bottle and they want their bottle to be a cream colour. For their cap on the bottle, they want a little butterfly dangling from a chain for decoration.
Then for the bag for the shampoo to go into, they want ‘Au Naturale’ written up the left side of the bag in bold script, and they want a yellow stem going up the right side of the bag which has more pink flowers going up the side of it, with even more blue butterflies. Again, they want the words ‘Naturally Beautiful’ written on the bottom, finished off with a white string bow to tie the bag up.
All of the shampoo designs that are well-known in the general day market are quite very simple. They have solid block colours and stick to a very specific colour scheme so it keeps the design very simple and makes it very easy to look at. They don’t have pictures on them, they only base their design on text, colours and maybe something very simple such as leaves or water drops. This means if i am going of professional standards, i won’t need to go for some extravagant design and try to be noticed because the more subtle the design, the better.
Some of the fonts that i has researched for my logo are all very feminine fonts, they are quite curly and supposed to resemble flowers.
Some of the are quite similar, but others are a bit more on the harsh side and other are too loose. I wanted to have text that is readable but also curly at the ends of the words. The font at the top in the middle is a bit unreadable which isn’t what i wanted and so i have picked a font that i thought is more suitable for my logo which i found after doing the font research.
I thought that this font is quite bold and is normal text just with flowers sprouting off it which is more what i wanted. This is the font that i will be using for my logo and so hopefully it will not stand out too much.
This is the kind of template i want to use in terms of flowers either around, below, on top, and both. Even if i don’t have it crammed with flowers, i feel like just a simple design will look nicer than stuffing it with flowers, grass and butterflies.
This is the logo that i have come up with for my final logo for the shampoo bottle, i think it looks good enough to be on a bottle. The flowers described the sort of style that was wanted for the bottle. I think that maybe if i did it again i would make the central text better and make it look like it fits in. I would also add smaller details such as butterflies and birds etc. The idea that the students gave me to make this wasn’t the best so to get this out of what they gave me is positive to what i could’ve ended up with. I think overall it is a nice logo but there could be improvements but for a shampoo bottle, it would look quite nice. The good thing about the flowers and leaves on both the top and the bottom of the logo is that they are all the same so the colour scheme will be the same. For a possible change that i could do is that i could change the font colour to the same colour as the leaves because then it becomes green which is what the students wanted. I think that in terms of the logo, it is not crammed full of stuff which i didn’t want to happen so it is quite simple which is what i wanted because simple is effective and so the fact that i have left space in a lot of spaces makes the logo better for me because nothing is crammed altogether.
This is my bottle and also the bag for the bottle. I have gone with my final logo to use for the shampoo bottle, it works quite well for the bottle but for the bag i thought that a purple bag would be a colours stereotypically for girls and because my shampoo and logo is aiming at a female audience i thought that it would be a good touch to the bag to make it more interesting. I have chosen to go for a small bag because my shampoo bottle is not big at all. The colour gives the bag a sense of depth so the bag would particularly stand out.
